HealthOne is an electronic record that allows those directly involved in your care to share and access your medical information such as test results, medications, allergies, and hospital & nursing information.

A limited number of General Practice sites also contribute consultation or encounter notes. You can see a list of those sites here:

They can see the health information held on their own patient management system. Beyond that, they will have to ask you to provide your own records.

Registered health care practitioners involved in your care from General Practice, Pharmacy and Secondary Care working in all public hospitals throughout the South Island.

No. The choices for opting off are either to make certain clinical items confidential, make all information from a specific health care provider confidential or to opt off entirely meaning no information is viewed in HealthOne.

No. HealthOne is a tool developed for use by the healthcare providers looking after you. Please contact the HealthOne Privacy Office if you wish to see health information health care providers can view on you via HealthOne.

You should be aware that there may be adverse impacts to preventing information sharing such as delays in care while tests are repeated – especially if you often move between GPs or are seen at any hospital department (including Emergency Department).

If you are thinking of opting off, please discuss your options with your healthcare provider or contact the HealthOne Privacy Office.

No. Even if you opt-off HealthOne, your vaccination status will still be visible to the health clinicians in secondary (i.e. hospital) care. Please contact the Ministry of Health at covid-19.privacy@health.govt.nz if you have more questions about Covid vaccination information.

This is dependent upon the type of information being displayed. For important clinical information such as Allergies/Medical Warnings, Diagnosis and Long-Term Prescribing’s, HealthOne will display all historical records. For other clinical data types, HealthOne will only show information for a defined period. For example, observation readings such as Blood Pressure, Weight, Height and BMI will only be displayed for the last 3 years.
